5 Picture Perfect Reasons to Teach

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but I would say that a picture inspires and evokes a certain emotion and understanding -- or even curiosity. Here are five pictures that I believe reflects on my reasons to become a teacher. In a year's time, I hope to look back on them and see how the emotions they evoke may have evolved.

1. Nurturing and Care
As a potentially important role in the growth and development of children, a teacher should have some level of nurturing and caring toward their students. Students have more positive relationships with their teachers when their teachers care about them.
2. An Outdoor Classroom
There is more to a classroom than the desks and chairs. Students can be given amazing opportunities when their lessons are taken out of the traditional four walls of the school's classrooms, and into a wider and more enriching environment.
3. A New Thinker
With so much innovation happening in our world today, there is equally so much opportunity for students today to become new and outstanding thinkers.
4. Celebrating Diversity
Bringing together diverse classrooms allows students to learn from each other, celebrate what makes them different, and embrace what makes them the same.
5. Expanding Imagination
Going hand in hand with the New Thinkers is also expanding and nurturing imagination. Too fast are children asked to cease make-believe when those things can be integrated into their learning.
